June at Whalebone: Copper, Cameras & Coastal Decor

From the details that make a home timeless to the little things that make daily life easier (or at least more entertaining), here’s what’s on our radar this month at Whalebone.

The Charm of Copper Gutters

If you’ve spent any time walking around the Cape, you’ve seen them—those warm, weathered copper gutters that instantly elevate a home. They’re not just beautiful; they age like fine wine, developing a rich patina that adds character and depth to coastal architecture.

Why we love them: Copper is durable, low-maintenance, and undeniably classic. Paired with cedar roofs, it’s one of the most quintessential Cape Cod combinations. You’ll see this detail on several of our builds this season—especially in areas where we want charm and durability to meet.

Will You Ever Use the Camera in Your Fridge?

Let’s talk tech. Specifically… the camera in your refrigerator. Yes, it’s a thing. And yes, we’ve played with them—Thermador makes some of our favorites.

Do you need it? That depends. If you're constantly at the grocery store wondering whether you already have three jars of pickles, it’s actually kind of genius. But if you're like us, there's a good chance you'll check it once, laugh, and then never open the app again.

That said, Thermador fridges still rank high in our builds for sleek design, premium function, and the flexibility to integrate seamlessly into high-end kitchen layouts. The camera? Call it a conversation piece.

Found Vases & the Great Greenery Search

Vintage glass wine bottle vases are having a moment—again. You’ve likely seen them gracing coffee tables, featured in Architectural Digest or pinned all over Pinterest. We’re partial to the Pottery Barn Found Oversized Wine Bottles, which bring an earthy, effortless feel to any coastal interior.

The tricky part? The opening. It’s narrow, which makes finding the right greenery a bit of a challenge. We tried olive branches from Pottery Barn, but they ended up looking a little too… droopy and sad.

So the search continues. Lately, we’ve been eyeing faux stems from Arhaus. Their silk greens feel more elevated and real—and honestly, they're worth it for a year-round look that won’t wilt on you.

Final Note:
Whether you’re picking out copper details, fridge features, or your next favorite vase filler, the beauty is always in the details. As always, thanks for following along as we build, refine, and decorate across the Cape.
